Parking
Department
The Parking
Department and the University Police Department are
responsible for issuing parking citations on campus roadways
and campus parking lots.
Citations are issued using an electronic handheld ticket
writer. Once the vehicle information is entered a ticket
citation is printed and placed on the vehicle. The citation
shows the specific violation, the location of the violation,
the license plate number, the make of the vehicle, the date
and time the ticket was written and the identification of
the officer or staff member issuing the ticket. The ticket
information is then downloaded into the Parking Department's
computer system and the tickets are matched up with student
records. Students are then placed on the "hold/stop list"
until the ticket is paid or appealed (within 7 days).
Vehicles registered to non-campus members are matched with
NY State Department of Motor Vehicle records and the
registered owner is held responsible. Flagrant abuse of the
parking rules and regulations may result in suspension of
motor vehicle registration (DMV) and the fines owed will be
sent to a collection agency.
All tickets are payable at the Bursar's Office on the third
floor of the Miller Building. Current fines are $25.00 per
ticket and will increase to $35.00 after 60 days, if not
paid. Handicapped violations are $100.00 per ticket. If you
receive a ticket and feel that you are not in violation you
may appeal the ticket within 7 days after the ticket was
issued. Please see the Appealing Tickets section on this Web
site.
Please feel free to call the Parking Department at (607)
753-4123 or e-mail upd@em.cortland.edu with any questions
concerning parking on campus. |
