SEVEN VALLEYS WRITING PROJECT

The National Writing Project as SUNY Cortland

The Seven Valleys Writing Project at SUNY Cortland is a National Writing Project site. Through the NWP's professional development programs, teachers in all subject areas and at all levels learn new strategies for helping their students become accomplished writers and learners. Teachers also become members of a professional development community that helps them keep their teaching fresh and vibrant. The NWP model begins with an annual four-week summer institute at our site in SUNY Cortland's Main Street facility in the Beard Building. We recently finished our first Summer Institute with 14 teacher leaders and convened an Advisory Board of school and community leaders to support and guide the project. Professor David Franke of SUNY Cortland and Brian G. Fay of OCM-BOCES, The Cortland Alternative High School, direct the project. To learn more, follow the links below.
