Camp Philosophy
Our philosophy is to provide the opportunity to increase individual skills in a fun learning environment. These skills are acquired while working and playing with college coaches and players in practice games, and in offensive and defensive tactical sessions. Players can take these new skills and tactics back to their school team. Interaction with advanced players helps to improve game play and gives campers a head start on their high school season.
Our goal is to create a clear image for the feel, tempo and attitude necessary to implement advanced volleyball skills.
Camp Director
Pam Hoerup completed her third season as the head coach for the Cortland women’s volleyball program in 2007 after serving as an assistant coach during the 2004 season. She has led the Red Dragons to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) titles and NCAA Division III tournament appearances in each of her first three seasons.
In 2007, Cortland finished 32-11 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs. The Red Dragons were undefeated in SUNYAC Eastern Division play. In 2006, Cortland's 29-13 record included three victories at the SUNYAC postseason tournament and a win in the opening round of the NCAA playoffs. In 2005, Hoerup guided the Red Dragons to a 33-8 record, a SUNYAC title and a tie for ninth nationally after two NCAA victories.
Hoerup's players have earned three honorable mention All-America honors in three seasons along with seven all-region and 10 All-SUNYAC awards. One of her players, Tiffany Chatman, was named the New York Region Freshman of the Year and NYSWCAA and SUNYAC East Rookie of the Year in 2005.
Prior to Cortland, Hoerup coached the girls’ varsity volleyball team at Trumansburg High School from 1990-2003. She compiled a 216-59 record and led the team to four state final four appearances in the last eight years, including 2002-03. She also coached modified volleyball from 1995-2003 and junior varsity basketball from 1990-94 at Trumansburg.
Hoerup, who received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physical Education from Cortland, was a four-year member of the Red Dragon volleyball squad from 1986-89. She was a two-time team captain and earned All-SUNYAC and all-region honors as a senior. She’s currently ranked 19th in school history with 690 career kills.
A native of Goshen, N.Y., Hoerup is a 1985 graduate of Goshen High School, where she lettered in soccer, basketball and volleyball and was named the Female Athlete of the Year as a senior.
