(October 25, 2004) USA Women's Team Handball, who has been training on the SUNY Cortland campus since early summer after announcing Cortland as its national training center in May, finally received a chance to show the public what it can do in its first ever games at Cortland on Oct. 23-24 at Lusk Fieldhouse.

Taking on teams in the newly-formed Northeast Team Handball Conference, Team USA began with three wins, soundly defeating the United States Military Academy's West Point I team 22-6 and the Central New York Team Handball Club 30-5 on Saturday and the West Point II team 29-11 on Sunday.

Tomuke Ebuwei and Edina Batar led Team USA with 23 goals each in the two-day tournament. Team USA is back in action at Lusk Field House on Saturday, October 30 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. against Laval of the Quebec League. All games are free and open to the public.

The Cortland Sport Management Program, through Dr. Ted Fay, was instrumental in bringing USA Women's Team Handball to SUNY Cortland. Students in the program have the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience working for the team.
