CORTLAND, NY (Nov. 18, 2003) — Evan Weiner, a nationally-recognized columnist, author and radio personality, will address students in the sport management program at the State University of New York at Cortland on Friday, November 21. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Brown Auditorium in the Old Main Building on the Cortland campus at 9 a.m.

Weiner, best known for his biting social and political commentary on the business of sports, currently offers daily commentary on his nationally-syndicated show “The Business of Sports” on the Westwood One Radio Network. He has also won two Associated Press Awards for radio news coverage and has appeared on several national and regional television programs.

Weiner has written for Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal, The Village Voice and The National Sports Review. In addition, he is a regular op-ed page contributor for New York Newsday, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Baltimore Sun, MSNBC.com and The San Francisco Examiner. In 2004, Weiner and San Francisco economist Dr. Daniel Rascher will publish a book titled “The Business of Professional Football.”

Among the topics Weiner will discuss include the politics of sports business, the economic impact of the Super Bowl and New York City’s 2012 Olympic bid.
