
SPORTS JOURNALIST EVAN WEINER TO SPEAK
AT SUNY CORTLAND NOVEMBER 21
CORTLAND,
NY (Nov. 18, 2003) — Evan Weiner, a nationally-recognized
columnist, author and radio personality, will address students
in the sport management program at the State University of New
York at Cortland on Friday, November 21. The event, which is free
and open to the public, will be held in Brown Auditorium in the
Old Main Building on the Cortland campus at 9 a.m.
Weiner,
best known for his biting social and political commentary on the
business of sports, currently offers daily commentary on his nationally-syndicated
show “The Business of Sports” on the Westwood One
Radio Network. He has also won two Associated Press Awards for
radio news coverage and has appeared on several national and regional
television programs.
Weiner
has written for Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal,
The Village Voice and The National Sports Review. In addition,
he is a regular op-ed page contributor for New York Newsday, The
Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Baltimore Sun, MSNBC.com and The San
Francisco Examiner. In 2004, Weiner and San Francisco economist
Dr. Daniel Rascher will publish a book titled “The Business
of Professional Football.”
Among
the topics Weiner will discuss include the politics of sports
business, the economic impact of the Super Bowl and New York City’s
2012 Olympic bid.
