The Cortland Sport Management faculty proactively prepares students for careers in the sport industry by working with them both in the classroom and in the industry. Above, professors Ted Fay (left) and David Snyder honor the academic excellence of students at the annual Cortland Sport Management Awards Ceremony. Below, professor Daniel DePerno (back, far right) works with a student during a live NBC NASCAR driver interview at Daytona International Speedway.

The sport management faculty at the State University of New York at Cortland is comprised of nationally and internationally known scholars, researchers and sport industry professionals. One of the most important facets of the sport management department at Cortland is the fact that every faculty member has significant experience working in the sport industry. Their infusion of real-world knowledge into the classroom proactively prepares students for careers in sport. Cortland Sport Management faculty have worked for and consulted with organizations such as the U.S. Olympic Committee, Major League Baseball, the National Football League, NASCAR, Disney and the NCAA. They have also worked with and helped place students at professional teams such as the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees, at events such as the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic & Paralympic Games, at companies such as Sports Illustrated and ESPN and at facilities such as Watkins Glen International Raceway. Visit the alumni and internship pages on this site for listings of where Cortland Sport Management students are working in the industry.
