The prime focus of the Cortland Sport Management Program is to combine the basic principles of a business management curriculum with the unique demands of sport as an enterprise. We offer a B.A. or B.S. in sport management. Our curriculum is a management and communications-based program of study specifically oriented to meet the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) national accreditation guidelines for undergraduate sport management programs. This curriculum is further designed to offer appropriate depth and breadth through additional sport management elective courses. You will have the opportunity to establish an area of focus or concentration through an interdisciplinary approach to course planning. Many students also have the opportunity and flexibility to choose a minor in business economics, communications, multicultural studies, or information technology. Our interdisciplinary curriculum - experiential in design and practice - prepares students through coursework, fieldwork, and internships to be successful professionals in a wide range of career choices within the field. Our program is exemplary in its focus on future trends such as information technology in sport, sport entrepreneurship and international sport. Students are also constantly challenged to engage in discussion of contemporary issues requiring ethical and socially responsible action.
