New Faculty and Staff Information

Welcome to SUNY Cortland!

We hope that you will find Cortland a wonderful place for families to live and grow. Housing is affordable, day care is reasonable and good, and the schools are well above average. Syracuse and Ithaca are 30 minutes away and provide "big city" access to dining, recreation, shopping and scholarly opportunities.

Local School Districts

The two larger school districts are Cortland City Schools and Homer Central School. The public elementary schools in Cortland, Homer, Dryden, Virgil and Marathon have a good reputation, as well as St. Mary's, the local Catholic school. Several other quality private and alternative elementary schools are located in the upstate New York area within driving distance. Staff and faculty in your department will have more personalized anecdotes.
