Julian Wright

Julian Wright is beginning his fourteenth year as the Director of Recreational Sports at SUNY Cortland. Prior to that, Julian was Assistant Director of Recreational Sports at Mississippi State University in Starkville for twelve years. He earned an Associate in Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 1969 and BS and MS Degrees in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, from Mississippi State University in 1971 and 1972 respectively. From 1972 until 1979, Julian taught and coached in the public school system in the State of Mississippi.

Julian is originally from Burnsville, Mississippi and currently resides in Cortland with his wife Jean and their two sons, Brett (age 20) and Craig (age 18). His daughter Julie and her family (husband Chris and son Joshua) currently reside in Florence, Alabama.
 


Louise Mahar

Louise Mahar is beginning her tenth year as Assistant Director of Recreational Sports for  Fitness at SUNY Cortland. Prior to that, Louise was the Recreation and Fitness Director at Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont for six years. She earned a BS Degree in Health Science at Johnson State College and a MS Degree in Exercise Physiology/Fitness from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Louise is a Certified Health and Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Louise is originally from Bradford, Vermont and currently resides in Cortland with her husband Buddy and their two sons, P.J. (age 13) and Eamonn (age 12).

Matt Nuesell

Matt Nuesell joined the SUNY Cortland Recreational Sports staff in the summer of 2006 and is beginning his second year as graduate assistant for sport clubs.  Matt joined the recreational sports staff after working for three years as a certified athletic trainer and adjunct professor of athletic training at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Prior to that, he served as a graduate assistant at Cornell University in Ithaca , N.Y.   While at Cornell, he served as the athletic trainer for the 2003 Ivy League Champion men's lacrosse team and also worked with the university's sprint football program.

Nuesell earned his first Master's Degree in exercise science with a concentration in sport psychology from Ithaca College in 2003. He completed his undergraduate degree in athletic training from SUNY Cortland in the spring of 2001.
