Raymond D. Franco, vice president for institutional advancement, has been a member of the SUNY Cortland professional staff since graduating from the College in 1972. Before accepting the vice president for institutional advancement position, Franco had served as SUNY Cortlands vice president for student affairs for 13 years.
A native of Herkimer, N.Y., he earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in psychology from SUNY Cortland and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University.
Franco began his professional career at SUNY Cortland as a residence hall director between 1972-75. He served as assistant director of housing from 1975-76 and was promoted to director of residence life in September 1976 .
In June 1980, Franco became the assistant vice president for student affairs and director of residential services and remained in that capacity until being named interim vice president for student affairs in September 1993. He took over the full-time vice presidential duties in July 1994.
In 1986, Franco received the SUNY Chancellors Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
