Awards and Honors:
- Dr. Best has served at the request of the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary, from 1975 through 1992, as an expert witness on the Electoral College system. She has also spoken on the issue on national radio programs, for the Twentieth Century Fund, and the Freedom Forum.
- Dr. Best has been an invited presenter at the American Political Science Association's annual meeting, at the annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians, at symposiums sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute, and at the Annual Leadership Conferences of the Center for the Study of the Presidency.
- Served as co-project director and co-course coordinator for this multi year project.
- Awarded the title of SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor by the SUNY Chancellor and the Board of Trustees.
- Awarded the American Higher Education and the Carnegie Foundation Honor Salute for Educational Leadership.
- Gerald DiGuisto Award for the Outstanding Member of the Faculty.
