History:
1975 BS - SUNY Cortland - Physics and Mathematics
1978 MS - N. Texas State University - Physics
1989 PhD - SUNY Stony Brook - Biophysics
I've been a Medical Physicist since 1978. In 1983 I went back to earn my PhD at SUNY Buffalo while I was also the radiation therapy physicist at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. In 1988 (pre disertation defense) I took a position as Assistant Professor and Senior Medical Physicist at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center with responsibilities in medical imaging. After two years I took the position at Stony Brook which has slowly evolved from a primarily clinical position to a primarily teaching and research position.
I have a number of very interesting funded breast cancer imaging projects: advanced magnetic resonance mammography (aMRM) and dynamic area telethermometry (DAT). I am also panel chair for the general medical physics examination of the American Board of Medical Physics.
I am recently separated, but have two terrific children, Jessica (13) and Mike (10) that keep me busy primaily with soccer, baseball and golf. I regularly make trips up to Binghamton to visit family and the family cottage only 20 miles from Cortland.
