We are finite, fallible, fragile, fragments of the universe. But because we have an inbuilt need to find meaning, we inhabit the universe in terms of a conception of its character — a big picture — either consciously adopted or unconsciously presupposed. In so doing we are always, whether we realize it or not, living by faith, that is, moving in an immensely important area in which thre is no certain knowledge and in which we cannot avoid the risk of being seriously mistaken.

Welcome

Thanks for visiting the site. Not quite the "Full Monty," but enough is revealed for your to be either intriqued or bored. Nonethless, enjoy!

With Jane and granddaughter Sophie summer 2005.

I have divided the site into three manageable areas.

• Academics is mostly for students who are interested in taking a course with me. It also gives some idea of my research interests etc.

• Spirituality is very close to who I am and this section will give you some insights into what makes me tick.

• Fun stuff is, well, the fun stuff—at least fun to me.
