Bookery II will host a reading and discussion of the book, Prisons and Punishment: Reconsidering Global Penality on Saturday, March 3rd at 3:00 pm in the Dewitt Mall Atrium.
The United States leads the world in mass incarceration. This book examines incarceration from a global perspective and provides tools for thinking critically about prisons and punishment. Book editors Professor Mechthild Nagel and Professor Seth Asumah, will be joined by Mary Barr, who contributed an essay to the book, and by Andy Doyle, a representative for the Ithaca chapter of Amnesty International. This event is cosponsored by Books Thru Bars of Ithaca.
In conjunction with this event, Bookery II will be holding a fundraiser to benefit the Books Thru Bars of Ithaca program from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on March 3rd. Ten percent of the gross sales of all list price items sold during these hours will be donated to Books Thru Bars of Ithaca. For more information email the Bookery II or call 273-5055.
