Preston Marye

PRESTON MARYE (Technical Director) was born into the entertainment business as the son of professional entertainers and entertainment technicians whose employment carried them through several continents over several decades. Preston moved to South Africa when he was 15 years old, where he had his first professional gig as a spotlights operator. Started working with Stage Hands’ Union at age 18 and has been a card member with IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees), Local 54 (Binghamton) since 1986.

Since that time, Preston’s local work has included the Broome County Arena, the Broome County Forum, SUNY Binghamton’s Anderson Center and Event Center and other area venues. Preston toured with Kool & the Gang on their 1986-‘87 North American ("Forever") Tour, and subsequently on their 1988 (Abidjan) and Ivory Coast tour, and their 40-city European "Rock the World in ‘89" tour.

Preston was hired in 1991 as Technical Director with Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton where he worked until 2001. Preston has also worked with a variety of entertainers of all kinds including Bob Dylan, The Moody Blues, Jackson Browne, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, AC/DC, Metallica, Chicago, Trace Adkins, Barenaked Ladies, Rascal Flatts, STYX, Chicago, Martina McBride, KISS, Foo Fighters, Tori Amos, Toby Keith, Vince Gill, and also WWF and David Copperfield. In August 2001 he was hired by the Performing Arts Department at SUNY Cortland as Technical Director.
