Kevin T. Halpin
Kevin T. Halpin is the director of the musical theatre program. He is a member of both major professional actors' unions, AEA and SAG, and has worked as a professional director, choreographer and performer on productions in New York City, Europe, and the Caribbean, as well as across the United States. In August 1999, Halpin and his family relocated to Cortland to help establish and direct the musical theatre degree program.
Prior to coming to Cortland, Halpin was the director of dance and the musical theatre specialist at Millikin University in Decatur, IL for three years, and was the assistant to the director of the new musical development at Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City. His work as a director/choreographer has included Sweet Charity, Chicago, Assassins, Anything Goes, The Music Man, How to Succeed . . ., Cabaret, Into the Woods, Gypsy and many others. Halpin received his BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University, and his MFA in Directing from CUNY Brooklyn. Halpin continues to pursue his professional career as a director/choreographer, providing his students with first-hand knowledge of what is required in the modern world of musical theatre.
