Matt Edwards

Originally from Vandalia, Ohio, baritone Matthew Edwards is an active performer on the musical theatre and operatic stage.

Recent appearances include Tri-Cities Opera, New Jersey Opera, Ash Lawn Opera Festival, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Atlantic Coast Opera Festival, Bay View Music Festival, the Dayton Philharmonic, the Miami Valley Symphony, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and educational outreach tours with Cincinnati Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland, and Tri-Cities Opera. Roles have included Alfred Doolittle in “My Fair Lady,” Officer Krupke in “West Side Story,” Capulet in “Romeo et Juliette,” Baron Zeta in “The Merry Widow,” Schaunard in “La Boheme,” the title role in “Gianni Schicchi,” Don Alfonso in “Cosi fan tutte,” Frank in “Die Fledermaus,” and many others.

Former students have enjoyed success in opera, musical theater, and pop music as well as in teaching.

Mr. Edwards holds a B.M. from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a M.M. from Louisiana State University and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the New York Singing Teachers Association, American Guild of Musical Artists, and Pi Kappa Lamda.  He also serves on the faculty of Hartwick College and is the Executive Director of the Know Theatre in Binghamton, NY.
