Depart for the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake


Private tour with curators of the museum's 50th anniversary exhibit Nature's Art, focusing on the whimsy of Adirondack rustic architecture and furniture, and the luxury of the Great Camps. A behind-the-scenes tour of collections storage will highlight rarely seen treasures, from a Prohibition-era still to a boat made from paper to a buzz saw fashioned from a 1920's Chevy pickup truck. It will be a day of Adirondack stories and treasures! (We will break at noon for lunch)


Following the tour, there will be an opportunity to let your artistic side show through participation in a workshop creating a birch bark picture frame. Or free time to explore independently the many other exhibits of this world-class museum.

Departure for Newcomb


One of the earliest examples of the multi-building estates known as a Great Camp is Camp Santanoni, regarded at the time of its completion as the grandest of all such Adirondack camps. Here we will take a horse-drawn wagon ride for five miles to visit the Gatehouse Complex, the Farm complex and the Main Camp. Once there you will appreciate its fascinating history and unique architectural features. We will lunch at the camp.

Departure for Antlers. Enroute we will make a stop at the Adirondack Park Visotor Interpretive Center in Newcomb for a guided nature walk.

Depart for Ferd's Bog. Here we will examine and identify plant specimens, study the transition zone on the edge of the bog in the forest area and identify birds. Bring binoculars if you have them.


We will enjoy a luncheon cruise, aboard the W.W. Durant, while taking in the breathtaking scenery and historic Great Camps of the Adirondacks' largest natural lake, Raquette Lake.


Free time for canoeing or individual explorations

Depart for Blue Mountain optional hike. Those not desiring to participate may have the morning at leisure for individual explorations,canoeing, kayaking etc.

Transport across Raquette Lake for a tour of Great Camp Pine Knot (now Known as Camp Huntington). We will tour the historically unique buildings and facilities of this camp and, if time permits, walk the nature trail.
