Singer (=P. rhodoxanthus subsp. albomycelinus Snell & Dick)

Similar to P. rhodoxanthus it differs in the white base and conspicuous white mycelium. In addition, the pileus is deeper reddish brown and more obviously areolate. For the confused history of this taxon see Both (1993).
