Leccinum atrostipitatum

The stipes in the genus Leccinum are usually prominently scabrous-dotted (from clusters of caulocystidia) which typically darken with age. L. atrostipitatum has dense black dots, a dingy orange-buff to pinkish-tan pileus and seems to always be associated with birch.
