Boletus griseus

Frost apud Peck

Photograph by T. J. Baroni ©1998

A gray pileus, white to yellowish stipe that is coarsely reticulated and cocoa-brown tubes at maturity characterize this bolete. The color of the tubes and similarly colored spore deposits suggest that it is a Tylopilus. Some forms of this species strongly resemble Boletus ornatipes Peck.
