Boletus edulis var. aurantioruber

This variety is similar to var. edulis but with a deep reddish-brown pileus, a more conspicuously reddish-brown reticulated stipe and the reticulum bruising dark brown to black. It occurs with various pines primarily in the northeast, north to Nova Scotia, west to Michigan. Apparently it is close to B. pinophilus Pilat & Dermek.
