Boletus subglabripes
Peck

The bright yellow, scabrous dotted stipe is characteristic for this bolete. Singer placed it into the genus Leccinum because of the scabrous dots, which, however, do not darken in age as they do in the majority of the members of this genus. B. subglabripes, together with B. rugosiceps (Peck), B. rubropunctus (Peck), B. longicurvipes (Snell) and B. viscidocorrugis (Both and others) form an interesting group for which Smith & Thiers (1971) erected the section Pseudoleccinum in Boletus. Future studies may demonstrate that this group should be placed in a separate genus.
