Leccinum subtestaceum

The pileus is dark ferruginous to liver color and the white context changes to vinaceous-gray or slate color. Often confused with L. aurantiacum (Bulliard). Gray, which has an orange pileus and a white context that stains reddish, then fuscous when cut.
