A small bolete with bright pinkish red colors in pileus, hymenophore and stipe. The spore deposit is ferruginous but exhibits olive tones when viewed in fluorescent light (see Baroni and Both, 1991), a feature shared by other members of this genus. It grows with conifers, primarily spruce.
