Online and Interactive Video Education Update: 2007-2008
Overview
SUNY Cortland offers a variety of online and interactive video courses to reach students who prefer this mode of instruction and those who are not physically on campus.Online Course Delivery
Faculty teach online and hybrid courses using SUNY Cortland's eLearning (Blackboard's WebCT) course management system. Many on-campus students prefer this mode of instruction, as evidenced by the high percentage of local students who enroll in online courses. An increasing number of students enroll in online courses during summer and winter sessions so they can take courses while away from Cortland.Course development grants and individualized assistance are available for faculty who wish to teach online computer-based courses. SUNY Cortland also participates in the SUNY Learning Network, a consortium of SUNY schools who have joined together to offer undergraduate and graduate on-line courses.
Interactive Video Classroom
There are interactive video classroom facilities available in the Sperry Learning Center. Training to use the technology is available from Classroom Media Services staff. For More Information
Faculty interested in teaching online or interactive video courses should speak with their department chair who must approve the course. For more information about teaching either an online or interactive video course, contact Paula Warnken, Associate Provost for Information Resources (Warnken@cortland.edu, x5942).ONLINE AND INTERACTIVE VIDEO COURSES THAT HAVE BEEN TAUGHT AT SUNY CORTLAND
