Orientation

small logo

You are invited to arrive in Cortland on Wednesday, August 13th or August 14th, 2008 for a 10 day orientation prior to the commencement of classes. You will find that our orientation plays a vital role in helping you adjust to our campus, community, and culture by creating a welcoming and informative environment. You will connect with all campus procedures and policies, as well as making new friends.

Our orientation coordinator and four orientation assistants, who are current SUNY Cortland domestic and international students, will lead you through a full schedule of diverse activities and events during this week. These will include campus and downtown tours, essentials shopping, several small seminars and workshops as well as lunch with SUNY Cortland's President and Provost. You will also enjoy a trip to a local park for hiking and a picnic, miniature golf, a trip to the zoo, movie nights, and a real live American baseball game!

You will be required to attend an international student information session to be held on August 20, 2008. At this session you will be introduced and receive presentations from all campus departments. Additionally, you will receive critical immigration information necessary to maintain your F-1 visa status. To ensure student success of those of you that are non-native English speakers, you will be required to participate in a language assessment.

We are confident that you will find this orientation experience enormously valuable and will ensure a seamless transition to your new home at SUNY Cortland. Welcome!
