Study Abroad in France: Semester program in La Rochelle: Sample course schedule

This is a sample course schedule for students studying in SUNY Cortland's La Rochelle program in Fall 2001. 12-15 SUNY Cortland credit hours is generally considered a full load.


 

Cours de français language étrangère (CUFLE) SUNY Cortland students will register for both the cours intensif and cours intégré for a total of 6 cr.hrs. - Cours intensifs : 2 semaines (15 heures par semaine) avant le semestre - Cours intégrés : 6 heures par semaine pendant le semestre Regular ULR courses: In addition to the français langue étrangère courses at the CUFLE, students will take 6-9 additional credit hours of course work in regular courses at the Université de La Rochelle. There are many possibilities.  We recommend taking classes at the DEUG I level (1st year) unless you are sure that you have a sufficient level of skill in both the language and the discipline. Changes may be made during the first 2 weeks of classes. You will receive personal assistance during the registration process in la Rochelle. Credit Hours  ->  ECTS : European Credit Transfer System: Course credits at ULR are listed in ECTS units. 30 ECTS units represent a full load for one semester for a French student.  You can generally assume that a ECTS 6 course is worth 3 SUNY Cortland credit hours. Here are some recommendations in the form of a sample program (ECTS 18 = 9 cr.hrs.): DLM 111 : Littérature française : le roman du XIXe et XXe siècles (ECTS 6) CM (cours magistral) + TD (travaux dirigés) - 2 works studied in TD, lectures on the genres * Also includes : Unité suivie des enseignements de lettres pour étudiants étrangers + tutor for DLM 111 : 1h30 /semaine (20 h/semester) + 1h tutor/semaine DLM 112 : Linguistique française : grammaire du français contemporain (ECTS 1) CM - grammar, morphology + syntax DLM 113 : Littérature générale et comparée : nouvelles contemporaines (ECTS 6) CM + TD - 4-5 works reflecting a literary problem from an international perspective. DLM 121 : Techniques d’expression niveau 1 (ECTS 3) TD - Written expression LLEA 3133 : Traduction, interprétation français <-> anglais (ECTS 2) Additional course options (samples):   DLM 115 : Español (compréhension et expression, presse, journal, TV films)  (ECTS 3) Recommended for students with at least one course beyond intermediate Spanish.
