It is a good jumping-off point for finding ideas for lesson plans as well as different history web sites and maps. History Wired

This site allows the visitor to visit the Smithsonian Museum from home or the classroom. The tour contains over 450 items which are accompanied by interesting stories about each. While the site is very useful and informative, it is fairly complicated to navigate, so students will need assistance. - N.T.

Not only does the site break down information by class (Global Studies, U.S. History, Advanced Placement classes), the main page has a number of important links. This site allows you to compare a wide range of statistics from different countries. After selecting the statistics you want presented, the website presents the chart or map displaying it. The site gives you very fast, up-to-date results. This site is easy to navigate and would be great for current issues such as overpopulation, economic status of countries, and death rates. National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)

Teachers at all levels will find this site useful because it provides curriculum guides, national standards, schedules of conferences and strategies to use when covering current affairs. The site also offers lesson plans for some of the harder to teach topics. While this site is very useful, it also contains many resources that are not available to teachers, and the membership dues are expensive. - N.T.
