Virus Information |

Just because you
have virus protection software installed on your computer, does
not mean that you are protected. As new viruses become
known, software makers must update their code to guard against
this virus and also provide a means to rid the malicious
programs from your computer. Makers of virus-protection
software do this by periodically issuing virus-definition
updates. These updates are
readily available, but you must go out and get them. If
you open your virus-protection software, you will find a date
referencing the latest update to your virus definitions.
If your definitions are older than about 5 days, you should
update immediately. Most virus-protection software has an
update link or update button where you can automatically update
a new reference file. In some cases, you may have to pay
for the updated definitions. Please see the information
below for links to manufacturers instructions.

I Can't Seem to Get Rid of This Virus |

Many viruses are
increasingly more sophisticated and thus more difficult to
remove. It is often beneficial to do a virus scan while in Safe
Mode, a special diagnostic mode of Windows used for
troubleshooting. To start your computer in safe mode,
follow these
instructions.
Also, many
manufacturers make specialized removal tools for specific
viruses. Record the name of the virus that is infecting your
machine and visit google and
type, for example, W32.Pexmor@mm removal tool. Chances are
good that there is a removal tool and/or instructions for
removing. You can also try the removal tools section at
Symantec. |
