(Un)Gopher aka ERIC
(Un)Gopher Activity
Ok, ok, ok! First, I had a really nice bunch of Gopher activities
and pages that became obsolete when Gopher went by the board. Then,
even though they didn't use Gopher, I developed some good activities to
help you find useful information for FL teachers using the ERIC Clearinghouse
on Languages and Linguistics. THEN the government, in its non-wisdom,
decided to collapse the sixteen ERIC clearinghouses back into one generic
ERIC site, so I had to trash those pages also. Geesh! But we
can still find much of the good information that was on the ERIC Clearinghouse
on Languages and Linguistics by going to the website for the Center
for Applied Linguistics. Bless their pea-pickin' hearts -- they tell
you where the ERIC CLL went and promise to keep many foreign language teaching
resources available. So . . . we're back in business.
1. First, access the page of the Center
for Applied Linguistics where they give us the dirt on the demise of
ERIC.
2. From the Online Resources menu, select Digests.
which will take you to another page that has a listing of many ERIC
Digests with topics germane to your specialization.
3. Pick a Digest, read it, and summarize it for your foreign language
methods class.
