To apply, a student should Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is recommended that students apply using FAFSA-on-the-Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students will be able to link to their online TAP application at the end of the FAFSA session.
A student will first be asked to establish a PIN (Personal Identification Number) for TAP. Keeping track of this PIN number and application information is imperative in case changes need to be submitted at a later date. After establishing a PIN, a student will be able to complete their TAP application online. Information from their FAFSA and their family's calculated NYS net taxable income will be pre-filled on the TAP-on-the-Web application. Follow the instructions provided.
Although it is highly recommended, a student does not need to apply for Federal Aid to link to the TAP Process. Students by-passing the FAFSA process should go directly to https://www.tapweb.org/totw/ and follow the instructions from there.
