Key Alternative Loan

Interest Rate and Fees:

  • 0 Fees
  • Cosigned Rates as low as 3 month LIBOR +2.99%
  • Non-cosigned Rates as low as 3 Month LIBOR +3.99%

Borrower Eligibility:

  • Student must be enrolled at least half-time (6 hours)
  • Loan is made in student's name
  • In many cases, a credit worthy co-signer will be required for undergraduates
  • Both U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible to apply. At least one applicant must be a U.S. citizen
  • Student does not have to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

Loan Limits:

  • The minimum loan is $500
  • The maximum loan is cost of attendance minus Financial Aid

Application Process:

  • Applicants only need to do paperwork once, after that use Key's easy renewal on-line to secure future education financing.

CitiAssist Alternative Loan

Interest Rate and Fees:

  • CitiAssist has flexible credit evaluation and your interest rate could be as low as Prime minus 0.50%. The actual interest rate on this variable rate loan will be determined at the time of approval
  • Fees as low as 0.00% (as of June 1, 2008)

Borrower Eligibility:

  • Borrower must meet credit and income requirements or provide a credit worthy co-signer
  • Borrower may be enrolled as a full-time, half-time or less than half-time student
  • CitiAssist can also be used to pay balance incurred within the last twelve months
  • Student can be non-matricualted
  • Student does not need to be making Satisfactory Academic Progress

Loan Limits:

  • There is no minimum loan amount

Signature Alternative Loan

Interest Rate and Fees:

  • Competitive Pricing that rewards creditworthiness: With two eligible borrowers: LIBOR + 2% to LIBOR + 6%. With one eligible borrower: LIBOR + 2% to LIBOR = 7.5%
  • Zero fees

Borrower Eligibility:

  • Student enrolled full-time, half-time or less than half-time
  • Student can borrow based on their own credit history however, a co-signer may be necesssary. Student must be matriculated. No income requirement.

Loan Limits:

  • The minimum loan amount is $500
  • The maximum loan amount is cost of attendance minus Financial Aid Aggregate Limit: $100,000

Application Process:

  • An online application can be completed at: https://opennet.salliemae.com/private/
  • A credit check will be run and the borrower will know right away whether credit was approved, what the interest rate will be and an eligible co-borrower is needed.

Repayment:

  • Interest rate reduction of 0.50% for auto debit
  • Co-Signer release option after first 24 scheduled monthly payments
  • No payments are required as long as the student is attending at least half-time (6 hours)
  • Repayment begins 6 months after degree completion or when student drops to less than half-time enrollment
  • Up to 15 years to repay
  • Students can choose to make interest payments while in school
  • UPromise LoanLink helps borrowers repay their Sallie Mae Serviced loans using savings accumulated in the borrower's UPromise rewards account

CLC Premier Loan

Interest Rate and Fees:

  • As low as prime - 0.50% for borrowers who apply with a qualified co-borrower
  • As low as prime - 1.25% in repayment for borrowers who apply with a qualified co-borrower (includes all available borrower benefits).
  • Rates ad fees are determined by a credit evaluation. Applicants are encouraged to utilize a qualified co-borrower to receive the most favorable terms.
