A Message from Provost Elizabeth Davis-Russell:
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty Development Center Web site of SUNY Cortland. If an institution is to thrive and prosper as a place of higher education, it is critical for it to invest in its faculty.
One way in which to do so is to continually revitalize its faculty by supporting faculty members in their professional development. It is our goal to build an environment that facilitates the ability of each faculty member to develop his/her full potential as a teacher, scholar, researcher and creative professional.
We believe that the hallmarks of that environment include innovation, collaboration, and lifelong learning. We want to promote innovation that results in excellence in teaching, learning, research and scholarship. We envision the Faculty Development Center as a meeting place within and across disciplines and schools for faculty exchange of ideas. We also want to promote the investigation and assessment of learning. The benefit to our students is the best education possible.
