SCEMS will sponsor any of its members to become a certified New York State Emergency Medical Technician Basic free of charge. The only requirements are being an active member of SUNY Cortland EMS, a semester of service after completion of the EMT-B course, and a $100 deposit that is refunded after the semester of service. The $100 deposit is not refunded if a student fails to sucessfully complete the course, or if the student does not complete a semester of service after passing the course.
