Teacher Education Candidate Assessment System (TECAS)

The SUNY Cortland Teacher Education Candidate Assessment System (TECAS) provides a means to assess the preparation of candidates over their academic program. In addition the system provides information for the improvement of the individual programs as well as the entire teacher education unit.

The system is dynamic and available online to the individual candidate as well as advisors, other faculty members, and administrators. Access to individual student records is controlled through Banner Web Access so that a student can access only their own records but faculty can have access to appropriate multiple student records (e.g. advisees).

The report can be viewed on the computer screen or can be printed. The TECAS is designed to complement the Curriculum Advising and Program Planning (CAPP) report that shows all requirements for a student’s major and the student’s progress in meeting those requirements. The documents listed below provide an overview of TECAS. For additional information contact Edward Caffarella, Professor of Educational Leadership.
