Dr. Edward Caffarella is a leader in the field of teacher education and educational technology. He is professor of educational leadership in the School of Education at the State University of New York College at Cortland. He was the Dean of the School of Education from 2003-2007. He earned a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1973 and has held previous faculty appointments at the University of Maine, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Northern Colorado. He is the Past-President of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. He serves on the Board of Examiners for the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. He is the evaluator for the State of Nevada Special Education Professional Development Grant. He is the creator of the Innovation Adoption Readiness Model (IARM). He developed and tested the Institutional Accreditation Readiness Model for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. He was the co-chair for the Professors of Instructional Design and Technology annual meetings in 1999 and 2001. He was a member of the writing team for Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning and Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning that were published in 1998. In 2000, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Association for Educational Communication and Technology for service to the profession over a lifetime.
