About Writing Style
The SUNY Cortland Writing Style Guide provides guidelines for general writing style and answers to College-specific style questions, such as official long and short names for rooms and buildings and the preferred spellings for computer-related terms. These guidelines are intended for use in all published materials that represent the College.
The guide follows the Associated Press Stylebook (AP Stylebook) but does not attempt to duplicate it. The AP Stylebook is used by the Division of Institutional Advancement for all official College publications, such as the College catalogs, The Bulletin, Columns, news releases and brochures. Information submitted to the Division of Institutional Advancement must observe the AP Stylebook.
