Service Description
For those interested in acquiring media equipment for educational purposes, Technical Services will help you with system design, equipment procurement, installation coordination and repair assistance. We will also document equipment inventory for campus records.
The college strongly encourages employees to consult with Classroom Media Services for media equipment purchases. See Guidelines for Departmental Purchases of Data Projectors and Media Hardware. Advantages of obtaining media equipment through this service include; equipment standardization for more efficient support, training and spare components are often readily available in the event of a failure. We will request that items purchased without the recommendation of CMS be returned to their initial purchase location for repair.
This service does not include the retention of Facilities or the origination of a Facilities Project Request. Where permanently installed systems and contractor trades are required, please refer to Capital Project Technical Facilitation.

Customer Responsibilities
The approval process will require a customer supplied funding source and an appropriate budget.
The owner is responsible for funding repair expenses or replacements, and associated shipping costs.
Policies or Service Requirements
Technical Services will arrange to meet with the requestor to discuss their needs and possible solutions.
A typical timeframe for development includes one week for design, one week for quote retention, one week for procurement, and two weeks for equipment delivery.
Technical Services will generate the procurement documentation and associated quote for the client’s signature and funding code.
Upon receipt of equipment, Technical Services will inventory, test, deliver and train client on the use of the items.
For repairs, Technical Services will make an initial triage of the equipment or system and try to resolve simple troubles and user errors. If we are unable to rectify the situation repairs will be coordinated by Technical Services, however funding will be provided by the owner.
