The Kenya ProjectSince its independence, Kenya has recognized the importance of education. However, economic difficulties have diminished the capability of educational institutions in Kenya at all levels to accomplish their goals. With the aid of a grant from the government, SUNY Cortland and the University of Nairobi are working together to improve access to and quality of po post-secondary education in Kenya using the the U.S. community college model. Besides seeking to increase access to post-secondary education, the project also is attempting to enhance the relevancy of higher education in communities as well as raise the quality of learning and teaching in Kenya. The partnership's ultimate goal is to expand and modify other learning centers in order to enhance the professional well-being of the graduates and strengthen the economy of the nation. Global AmbassadorsThe Global Ambassadors is the international student organization open to all SUNY Cortland students. The purpose of the organization is to provide a link between American students and those from other countries. Travel, activities and programs sponsored by the organization foster an atmosphere in which students from other countries can learn about American life and culture while American students learn about the life and culture of other countries. This organization serves an important function at the College by promoting a global and diverse environment for all students at the College. |
