Purpose and Mission

The Center for International Education (CIE) exists for the purpose of providing an integrated framework designed to foster and develop SUNY Cortland's many international activities on and off campus.

As the umbrella organization for all international activities within the college community, the Center's mission is to promote, coordinate, and initiate programs and events which further international education.

The Center helps to develop and enhance the College's existing curricular offerings and programs with an international focus. The Center works closely with College's International Programs Office (IPO), the International Studies Program (IST), the International Communications and Culture Department (ICC), and various projects such as the Project for Eastern and Central Europe (PECE) and the Kenya Project.

The Center also helps develop new international programs for the College, and is interested in writing funding proposals for this purpose.

The Center also works with the Admissions Office and the Enrollment Management Office in their efforts to attract and retain international students and other students involved in the College's international course offerings and programs.

The Center assists the Global Ambassadors (international student group) with its activities while aiding the international student advisor and the Director of Whitaker Hall (international student dormotory) in enriching the educational experience of the College's international students.
