Child Care Center

Little Hands
Little hands can do so many things

Welcome and thank you for visiting. We think you'll see after browsing that what you're looking for in on-campus child care is right here at the SUNY Cortland Child Care Center.

Our Center is located on the SUNY Cortland campus and was opened in 1993 to serve students and staff of the college, New York State employees and the Cortland community. Because our Center is relatively new, everything within the Center was designed and built with the young child in mind, so the facility is child-centered and appropriately furnished.

We're a New York State licensed child care center, licensed for up to 72 children. Our Center has five classrooms: eight infants between the ages of six weeks and 12 months; eight mobile infants between the ages of 12 months and 24 months; ten toddlers, ages 24 - 36 months; fourteen three-year olds; and sixteen four-year olds.

We have two outdoor playgrounds; one with climbing/sliding apparatus and sand and one bricked patio area where the children use trikes and picnic. We also have an indoor playroom where the children can expend their energy and use their large muscles when the weather is not conducive to outdoor play.

Child care tuition for SUNY Students and NYS employees is based on a sliding fee schedule according to your family income and family size. SUNY students receive a special discount. In addition, tuition assistance is available to income eligible students. Community residents are charged the maximum fee.

Our staff are all professionals in the early childhood field. Our Head Teachers all have appropriate credentials in early childhood education or a related field. And all our staff are required to participate in ongoing training to keep abreast of current trends in child development and education.

One of the best benefits of being on campus is the involvement of the SUNY Cortland students in the Center. We have several students participating in our SUNY Cortland Volunteer Program on campus, as well as field study, internship and work study students. The students contribute an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious among the children and staff here at the Center.

We're hoping that this "virtual" visit to our home page will be followed with a personal visit from you. We'll all look forward to meeting you.

Most sincerely,

The SUNY Cortland Child Care Center Staff and Administration
