CAP 100 -Fall 2009
Things you need to know and do:
1. Make sure you can log into the Lab Computers - Printed instructions
are available in the Lab. Your 'User Name' is your Cortland ID Number. Initially,
your password is your last name and the last 4 digits of Cortland Number.
2. Buy the books (see the syllabus). I highly recommend you buy your own copy of the lecture text (Technology In Action, 6th edition), but it may be possible to share this book. The College Bookstore has the lecture book bundled with the MyITLab access code and the lab manual (Fundamentals of MS Office 2007). You need to have your own access code for MyITLab; this cannot be shared.
3. Check to see if you have a Network Folder to drop-off assignments. This can be found on the CAP Department's virtual server that is located on Administrative Computing's 'Shares' server. There is an icon on the desktop of the lab computers for the CAP server's Drop_Off Folder.
4. Setup your MyITLab account: You will need to do this during the first week of classes. A good time would be during your first lab, so purchase a course access code as soon as possible. This is the first of two codes you will need to have to use the software. The second code is one of the lab section codes listed below

5. Get a copy of the files you willl need to complete the tutorials in the lab manual (Fundamentals of MS Office 2007). The original files are located on the Shares server in the Data_Files Folder. This directory can be easily reached from the computers in the CAP Lab by clicking on the Data_Files icon on the desktop. You can also get there from any other computer on the College's network by clicking on the Start button and using the Run command. Type: \\Shares\Data_Files and navigate to the CAP 100 folder
Open the CAP100 Labs Folder and copy the Course Docs folder to your USB drive. It is important that you have your own copy of this folder.
