Louis Pasteur, the most famous microbiologist, said, "The role of the infinitely small in Nature is infinitely great." Every day stories about diseases caused by microorganisms appear in newspapers, magazines, and even movies. I am the "number one fan" of microbiology. I love teaching microbiology and I'm fortunate to be able to talk with students about microbiology every day. I am very proud to have received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching from SUNY. Our department has an outstanding faculty with a broad range of academic interests. Faculty are enthusiastic about their teaching, their scholarship, and their interaction with students on research projects. We have a great deal to offer.
