        Research and Internships

            The Department is able to enhance your learning experience in laboratories which contain state-of-the-art equipment.  Many laboratories are dedicated to specific courses and are fully equipped with computers, microscopes, spectrophotometers, etc.  These laboratories are supported by a full-time technician and student assistants.  There are also some specialized laboratories that include scanning electron microscopy, tissue culture and a molecular biology lab with electrophoresis and PCR equipment.  In addition every faculty member has his or her own research laboratory with specialized equipment and computer software.  In their junior and senior years students often join faculty research projects in these laboratories.

            In addition to these on-campus facilities your off-campus internship will teach you the specialized methods and instrumentation in a field of your choosing.  Internships can be arranged with research organizations, pharmaceutical firms and health care institutions including area hospitals.
