ONEONTA, N.Y. - Junior Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright) scored 17 points, including the tiebreaking layup with 15 seconds remaining, as Cortland defeated Oneonta, 67-64, in the SUNYAC opener for both teams. Cortland is 5-1 overall and Oneonta drops to 4-2.

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Ryan Morin led three Oneonta double-figure scorers with 13 points as the host Red Dragons defeated Cortland, 66-59, in the opening SUNYAC game for both teams. Cortland drops to 2-3 overall and Oneonta is 3-2 with the decision.

SUNY Cortland first-year men’s cross country head coach Steve Patrick has been named the 2008 Division III Men’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The SUNY Cortland football team earned 16 spots on the 2008 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) football all-league squad. Eight Red Dragons earned first team all-conference honors, the most of any school. Cortland also had three players on the second team and five honorable mention selections.

Cortland 12th-year head coach Dan MacNeill was chosen as the NJAC Football Coach of the Year. He led the Red Dragons to the league title with a 9-0 record. He has also guided Cortland to two NCAA Division Iii tournament victories, to date, as the Red Dragons bring an 11-1 overall mark into their national quarterfinal game at Mount Union Saturday, Dec. 6.

Tickets for Cortland's NCAA Division III Quarterfinal football game at Mount Union (Ohio) will be available at the stadium gate. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for students and children. Reserve tickets may also be purchased by phoning the Mount Union ticket line at (330) 821-6759. When calling, please remember to identify yourself as a Cortland fan for proper seating. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. the morning of the game.

SUNY Cortland senior Kayla Chambers (Craryville/Taconic Hills) and junior Christine McCabe (Greene) have been chosen as All-Americans by both the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and by the Web site womensfieldhockey.com. Chambers was an NFHCA first team selection and McCabe was on the second team. Both Chambers and McCabe were second team choices by womensfieldhockey.com.
