 Prominent Alumni

The School of Arts and Sciences has recently created its School of Arts and Sciences Advisory Council. The council consists of a small group of alumni who have distinguished themselves in business, public service, and academia.

The SUNY Cortland Arts and Sciences Advisory Council members are as follows:

Steven J. Branfman '74
Mr. Branfman received his bachelor's degree in Art from SUNY Cortland in 1974. He earned his master's degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is a potter, teacher, author, and owner of The Potters Shop & School which is located in Needham Heights, Mass.

Christine Buck '84
Ms. Buck received her bachelor's degree in geography from SUNY Cortland in 1984. Currently she is vice president of Buck Environmental Laboratories, Inc.

Lisa Codispoti '86
Ms. Codispoti received her bachelor's degree in political science from SUNY Cortland in 1986. She earned advanced degrees in public administration and law. She is now a senior research analyst for Service Employees International Union located in Washington, D.C.

Michael Comella '86
Mr. Comella received his bachelor's degree in physics from SUNY Cortland in 1986. He is now employed in sales for patents and technical marketing at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

Dr. Maryann Delvecchio '77
Dr. Delvecchio received her bachelor's degree in secondary education/French at SUNY Cortland in 1977. While at Cortland, she participated in the study abroad program, was a Presidential Scholar, was inducted into Pi Delta Phi French Honor Society, graduated summa cum laude and completed her degree in three years. She earned her master's and doctorate degrees in Italian at Cornell University. She has worked and lived abroad in both Europe and the Middle East. She is currently employed by IBM and is also co-owner and co-founder of Global Enterprises, Academic Learning and Resource Center.

Robert Demske '85
Mr. Demske received his bachelor's degree in political science before completion of his J.D. degree at Franklin Pierce Law Center. He has served as a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice and served as special counsel to former Vice President Dan Quayle. He has consulted on a variety of national political races and in the non-profit sector. He is president and CEO of RD Consulting, working on fundraising for political campaigns and non-profit organizations.

Dr. Peter F. Eisenhardt '67
Dr. Eisenhardt received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from SUNY Cortland in 1967. He earned his master's degree in chemistry from the University of Florida and a doctorate in pharmacological chemistry. Currently he is the director of over the counter product research and development worldwide for Johnson and Johnson.

Dr. Eileen Jaffe '75
Dr. Jaffe received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from SUNY Cortland in 1975. She earned her doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. She is employed in research and development at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.

David J. Kronman '80
Mr. Kronman received his bachelor's degree in Geology from SUNY Cortland in 1980. He earned a master's degree in geology from Vanderbilt University. He is an exploration geologist for Enron Oil and Gas International, Inc.

Martin Mack '76
Mr. Mack received his bachelor's degree in secondary social studies from SUNY Cortland in 1976. He earned an advanced degree in law. He has served as deputy attorney general in charge of a New York State Regional Office. In 2007 Governor Spitzer appointed Mack to the position of deputy secretary for intergovernmental affairs.

Dr. Wayne Marley '75
Dr. Marley received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from SUNY Cortland in 1975. He earned his medical degree in dermatology from SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse. He is in private practice at The Dermatology Skin & Laser Center in Bensalem, Pa. and is a past president of the American College of Phlebology.

John D. Mecca '73
Mr. Mecca received his bachelor's degree in political science from SUNY Cortland in 1973. He is currently employed as senior grants specialist for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.

Stanley Okula '82
Dr. Okula received his bachelor's degree in History from SUNY Cortland in 1982. He earned his doctorate degree from St. John's University. Currently he is an assistant U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Lynn Wecker '69
Dr. Wecker received her bachelor's degree in Chemistry from SUNY Cortland in 1969. She earned her doctorate from the University of Florida. She is a distinguished research professor and department chairperson at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.

Jim "Skip" Weiss '84
Mr. Weiss received his bachelor's degree in communication studies from SUNY Cortland in 1984. He is senior vice president of media relations and public relations for Turner Broadcasting.
