Primary FLTEACH Ancillaries
The materials on this page were developed to serve language teachers as part of the FLTEACH project.
FAQs
A number of particularly useful messages from common discussion threads have been collected in our FLTEACH FAQs. These Frequently Asked Questions touch on important topics such as classroom discipline, oral participation, student teaching, advice to new teachers, accent marks, etc.
Subscriber Biographies
FLTEACH subscribers are asked to complete a short biographical statement including teaching level, languages, school name, location, specialization, interests, and current projects. The FLTEACH biography collection can be searched by keyword.
FLTEACH Subscriber Statistics
Current FLTEACH membership includes many colleagues from widely different institutions across the US and around the world. Some graphs of FLTEACH subscription distributions across the country and around the world show how we have grown since Feb. 1994. We hope that FLTEACH will also be used to foster a community in which colleagues at all levels can seek information, resolve problems, and share ideas, outlines, handouts and other teaching materials, syllabi, and bibliographies.
FLTEACH Foreign Language Instructional Materials Database Online
The FLTEACH Foreign Language Lesson Plan Database is a free, searchable collection of culture-based lesson plans created and shared by language teachers. Materials submitted to the database should have strong cultural content and follow sound pedagogical models.
FLTEACH collection of syllabi for FL Teaching Methods
FLTEACH has an online collection of Syllabi for Foreign Language Teaching Methods courses. If you wish to include the syllabus for a methods course that you teach, please contact Jean LeLoup:
FLTEACH activities in FL Methods courses - wiki
FLTEACH is used in many FL methods courses. We have set up a wiki for sharing ideas about FLTEACH related activities for use in FL methods courses. <http://icc523.wikispaces.com/methods-assign>. If you wish to use FLTEACH in a methods course, please take a look. Feel free to use any ideas that you find and add your own ideas or suggestions. We hope to make a pre-service teacher's experience of FLTEACH as positive as possible.
FLTEACH annotated bibliography for SLA
An annotated bibliography of articles on SLA, ESL, and Bilingual Education is available online. If you wish to contribute additional annotations on articles in these areas, please contact Jean LeLoup:![]()

Announcements Bulletin Board
Announcements that might not ordinarily be appropriate for the FLTEACH email list (e.g. those of a commercial nature) may be posted as a new topic on our FLTEACH Announcements bulletin board. These may include paid courses, programs of study, online products or services supported by ads, workshops, special events, items for sale, etc. Items listed here will NOT appear in the FLTEACH email discussion forum. These announcements can also be viewed as an RSS feed.
